Are you paying too much for data?
Most growing companies overpay for their data platform without realising it. Answer a few plain-English questions to see a likely savings range, and exactly what to ask your team.
Why data bills creep up
Data costs rarely jump all at once. They creep. A process that copies all your data every night is cheap when the data is small, then gets more expensive every month as the business grows. Reports get added and never switched off. Computing power gets turned up for a busy month-end and never turned back down. And when the person who set it up moves on, nobody feels safe touching it.
Surveys of cloud users estimate that around 29% of cloud spend is wasted (Flexera State of the Cloud, 2026). Fixing it is usually a short, focused review followed by a handful of changes, not a rebuild.
How the estimate works
Each statement you tick is linked to a common cause of overspending, with a conservative range for how much of the bill it usually wastes. Because causes overlap, the calculator combines them instead of adding them up, and caps the total at 28–40% of your bill.
The range is then adjusted for your situation: how long since anyone reviewed the bill, how big the bill is, how big it is for a company your size, whether it's growing faster than the business, and whether anyone is dedicated to data. The result shows exactly which of these affected your estimate.
Questions
What counts as my data bill?
Whatever you pay each month to store, process and move data: your data platform (for example Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or the data part of your AWS or Google Cloud invoice), plus tools that copy data between your apps, such as Fivetran. Leave out reporting licences and salaries. Your finance team can usually find it in a few minutes.
Do I need to be technical to use this?
No. The questions describe things you'd notice as a founder or manager, like the bill growing faster than the business or reports nobody reads. If you're unsure about an answer, tick it if it's probably true.
How accurate is the estimate?
It's a deliberately conservative range based on the problems that most often cause overspending. It isn't a quote. A Data Health Check measures your real usage and gives you a costed list of fixes.
What happens to my answers?
Your estimate is calculated in your browser, and nothing is sent to us while you answer. If you unlock the full breakdown, we receive your answers and contact details so Heryanto can prepare your review. We only use them for that, and we never share them.
Want the real numbers?
The Data Health Check is a two-week, fixed-price review. You get measured savings and a prioritised list of fixes your team can act on.
If you go ahead, Data Rescue ties part of our fee to the savings we verify.
